In a study published in the Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA 2005), they defined a healthy lifestyle as a combination of 4 healthy lifestyle characteristics (HLCs), i.e., nonsmoking, healthy weight, fruit and vegetable consumption, and leisure-time physical activity.

But, the true understanding of is healthy lifestyle is not that simple because the concept of health is freely used. Health is not just the absence of disease. It is not static. Health is a dynamic process.

It is a constant balance of various components that makes one feel well. When you have stress, your health gets affected. But with proper nutrition and support, you recuperate and bring the balance back and achieve a healthy state.

What is Lifestyle?

To maintain a dynamic state of health, one needs to develop a daily routine that will positively affect your health. If you develop a habit of eating smaller portion sizes, being active every day, drink plenty of water every day and consume fruits and vegetables, there is a good chance that you will reach a healthy state. But, if you also have a habit of consuming alcohol or smoking cigarettes, etc, then maintaining the balance would be difficult to reach a healthy state.
